The Ambassador of Italy to Tanzania, H.E. Giuseppe Sean Coppola, has paid a visit to the National Disaster Monitoring and Early Warning Centre located in Mtumba, Dodoma, to observe its operations and discuss areas of continued collaboration.
The visit, conducted on August 4, 2025, was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in disaster risk management. Ambassador Coppola was accompanied by the Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) for the Africa Region, Mr. Fabio Minniti, along with technical experts Mr. Paolo Razzini and Ms. Sara Pini.
The main objective of the visit was to assess how the Centre operates, especially as part of projects funded by the Government of Italy, and to explore new areas of technical partnership aimed at improving its performance and capacity.
Ambassador Coppola expressed Italy’s commitment to continue supporting the Government of Tanzania in enhancing the Centre’s capacity to provide early warnings and monitor disasters effectively, with the goal of reducing disaster-related risks and impacts across the country.
